School Health Program: Anthropometric Assessment & First Aid for Burns

YLCGH-Nepal conducted a School Health Program at Laxmi Ni Ma Vi School, Hetauda, combining anthropometric assessment with an educational session on First Aid for Burns. The initiative focused on promoting student health, strengthening school-based health capacity, and building sustainable practices within the school community. As part of the program, students’ height and weight were measured to support basic assessment of their physical growth and nutritional status. A key component of the initiative was building the capacity of teachers to independently conduct future anthropometric measurements, helping establish a sustainable approach to continued student health monitoring beyond the program itself. The program also included a First Aid for Burns session designed to strengthen health and safety awareness among students and teachers. The session aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills for responding appropriately to burn injuries and providing timely first aid while seeking further medical care when necessary. By combining health assessment, capacity building, and practical health education, the initiative demonstrated YLCGH-Nepal’s approach to sustainable school health promotion—moving beyond one-time services to strengthen the ability of schools and communities to continue promoting health independently. YLCGH-Nepal extends its appreciation to the participating team, school administration, and teachers for their valuable support, dedication, and collaboration in making the initiative meaningful and impactful.
