School Health Program: Dengue Prevention Awareness
On 27 June 2025, Young Leaders Collaboration for Global Health-Nepal (YLCGH-Nepal) conducted a Dengue Prevention Awareness Program at Shree Bhanodaya Basic School, Mahalaxmi, Lalitpur, as part of its ongoing School Health Program.
The session aimed to educate and empower students with practical knowledge about dengue, its transmission, and the importance of prevention. Students learned about the role of Aedes mosquitoes in spreading dengue and how stagnant water can serve as a potential breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions, students actively participated in exploring practical ways to reduce mosquito breeding sites and minimize the risk of dengue transmission. The approach encouraged students to recognize that dengue prevention requires consistent action at the individual, household, school, and community levels.
The initiative sought to strengthen health literacy among young learners and encourage them to become active participants in dengue prevention within their families and communities.
By turning knowledge into practical action, YLCGH-Nepal continues to promote preventive health practices and empower young minds to contribute to healthier and safer communities.
