School Health Program: Dengue Prevention Awareness
YLCGH-Nepal conducted a School Health Project on Dengue Prevention at Shree Bharati Bhawan Secondary School, Pokhara, engaging enthusiastic students from Grades 6, 7, and 8.
The session focused on strengthening students’ understanding of dengue prevention and encouraging practical actions to reduce the risk of transmission. Students learned how to identify potential dengue risks and recognize common environments where Aedes mosquitoes can breed, particularly areas where stagnant water accumulates.
The session also emphasized the importance of eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites and adopting appropriate personal protection measures at home and within the community. Through interactive health education, students were encouraged to recognize their role in preventing dengue and sharing preventive practices with their families and communities.
By engaging young learners as informed participants in disease prevention, the initiative aimed to strengthen health literacy and encourage community-level action against dengue.
YLCGH-Nepal continues to promote school-based health education as a practical approach to empowering young people and building healthier, more resilient communities.
